Planned giving

Gifts to CSU Pueblo through the Foundation are investments that impact the students, faculty, and staff who shape the future in Colorado and beyond. If you would like to make a lasting impact on education, research, and discovery at CSU Pueblo, a planned gift could be the perfect option for you.

There are many ways to make a planned gift, including designating the University as a beneficiary in a will, living trust, or retirement plan. You can make a gift now or after your lifetime while enjoying financial benefits for yourself and your loved ones.

The CSU Pueblo Foundation suggests speaking with an accountant or attorney to determine the best options for you.

Charitable Lead Trusts

Appreciated Securities

Support CSU Pueblo while receiving a charitable deduction and possibly avoiding capital gains taxes.

Real Estate

Your home, land, and other real estate may be used to make an immediate or life income gift. As with appreciated securities, real estate gifts held more than a year can offer significant tax benefits. Environmental, liability, and marketability analyses, as well as prior approval by our Gift Acceptance Task Force, are required before we can consider acceptance of real estate gifts. The value we place on your gift will be determined by an appraisal required by the IRS.

Personal Property (Gift-in-Kind)

Personal property like musical instruments, rare books, or technical equipment are great gifts. Tax treatment for them differs based on whether they align with the University’s exempt purpose. The IRS requires an appraisal for personal property gifts worth $5,000 or more. All proposed gifts of personal property must be evaluated by our Gift Acceptance Committee and a Deed of Gift completed before they can be accepted.
